US Veterans Administration Approves the Pentacle
The US Veterans Administration, after nearly 10 years, has finally approved the Pentacle as an Emblem of Belief on the headstones and memorial markers for military veterans. Press coverage of this momentous occasion for Pagan/Wiccan rights was bigger than I would have anticipated, as the Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times and many others carried the article written by the Associated Press.
A lot of magic around the country was done to aid in this effort and it all paid off. The government learned that when they declare a religion like Wicca invalid and frivolous, they are not only going against the US Constitution and the will of the people, they are going against the Gods. They may not believe in our Gods, but They are as real and powerful as the God followed by the mainstream religions.
We also must learn from this experience. When many people join hands and put aside their petty differences (like my Goddess is better than your Goddess), great things can be done that will benefit us all. We must also learn the power that grows when we work for something that is bigger than ourselves and is for the benefit of someone else.
We must not let this be a one-time event. We need to ensure that we continue to work together for important issues that affect us all.
Thank you to Circle Sanctuary and Selena Fox for leading this fight to victory.

I has been following this story since the story was first reported about Sgt. Patrick Stewart’s death and his widow’s inability to get a pentacle on his memorial plaque. I was so happy to finally see the right thing done.

When my Catholic son who was a officer in the Navy told me I couldn’t believe it.
It’s about time we proudly wear our symbol of our faith proudly and be able to show the world that we have gone to the Summerland.
